Jean-Antione Watteau

The manner in which Watteau chooses to collage in this painting of Pierrot inspires my work. Watteau, a French painter of the Baroque era creates a revival of color and movement. The painter was unable to be categorized in any of the genres of painters(i.e. landscape, portrait, religious). This brought about his own genre of painting called fetes galantes.

This is my painting Mia famiglia. I created it upon my return from Italy. It displays my little sister on a vanity surrounded by walls in which I collaged faces of my mother, father, brother, sister(same as on the vanity) and myself into the walls of the room. The idea of collage within painting fascinates me.
